TEAM TRI-LAB travelled all the way to the metropolis of Maselspoort, just outside Bloemfontein last weekend to compete in the SA Sprint Triathlon Championships.

With a race course of a 750m swim – 20km bike and 5km run awaiting the competitors, TRI-LAB moved swiftly to destroy a lot of the competition over the various age group divisions taking no less than 7 GOLDS, 3 SILVERS and 2 BRONZE medals.

The day got off to a flyer with Grant Larson and Glen Gore putting the hurt down on their fellow racers over the 750m swim. Such was their pace that they were faster than the Elite Junior Men who were to race later in the day and only 40 seconds off the Elite Professional Seniors. The both of them comfortably won their respective age groups for the 2nd time in a row. Next up were the ladies with Katie Larson winning GOLD and Taryn Gore taking SILVER in the 25-29 year age cat.

On the gents side, Sanele Shange romped to first in his respective age cat coming a respectful 2nd overall on the day in the age group race. Ernest Phungula was runner up with Sthokoza Zondi taking a 3rd place in his age group catergory. Jan Hendrik Senekal was another medalist coming 3rd in his age cat. Gold Medal went to Olie Williams in the 40-44 year age cat for this 2nd win in this division. Jarryd Mare making his 1st appearance at the Champs claimed an impressive 3rd place behind Shange and Phungula. Mondli Nicolas was 4th placed on the day and he too is chasing Top 3 at the next championship event.

In the JUNIOR YOUTH  RACE – we had Ryan Viviers completely dominate from start to finish to win the SA TITLE while Taylor Foster lead one for the ladies and managed to win her SA Youth Title for a 3rd year in a row.

The team are now building towards the next event in April with our Junior Ladies and Men’s set to dominate the 16-19yr age category.

The TEAM are full on 100% Performance Driven with the recent results showing that the team mean business when it comes to racing.
